Fundacja Polskie Serce – Polish Heart Foundation
About the foundation
Why we work
“The idea for the Foundation was born in early adulthood. Even as a child, I was sensitised by my grandfather to be a patriot. Because my grandfather risked a lot for the word ‘patriot’ to be mentioned in connection with our Polish homeland,” – says Victoria Slepokora, initiator and founder of the Foundation.
Her grandfather was one of the thousands of soldiers who fought for a free Poland under General Władysław Anders. While plans for the Foundation were slowly taking shape, Victoria met other grandchildren of heroes of this legendary army by chance.
Who we are
The Foundation is a team of people, ex-Poles from England and Germany, who share a common history. It is the generation of grandchildren of General Anders’ soldiers, working for the idea of maintaining national memory, and the heroic deeds of soldiers fighting for Poland’s sovereignty and independence.
It is the past of the members, who spent their childhood and youth abroad, that allows for an unobstructed view of events in Poland and an awareness of the external influences to which our homeland is exposed. Without getting bogged down in the political categories that often dominate the discourse in Poland. Cross-partisan, focusing on what is good for Poland. And thus for each and every one of its citizens.
Where we are going
This activity is a continuation of helping Poles, promoting the Republic of Poland abroad, supporting Polonia and Poles abroad and at home.
The charitable activities of the Polish Heart Foundation are aimed at maintaining and transmitting national traditions, upholding Polishness and developing national, civic and cultural awareness.
“In the spirit of the heroes who risked and sacrificed their lives for our beautiful country. For the fact that we can call ourselves Poles, with pride and faith in a bright future for ourselves and our descendants. To this end, we are opening our Polish Heart.” – concludes Victoria Slepokora, the president of the Foundation.
